Taking Summer into Fall

Text...

How was your summer? What did you love about it?

During the Covid Pandemic I spent a lot of time at my friend's beach house. Many of you will remember the fiasco of not having a bathroom for months because of a pluming issue and let's face it, a less than honorable contractor. It was easy to jump in the car and head out of town and even though I still had to work, there was something about doing it from the beach that made that season of life more bearable.

On the drive home I would dread returning to the chaos in the house until one day it occurred to me to take something from the beach and include it in my everyday life.

I implemented this strategy and have been using it with clients ever since!

Here's how it works.....

Make a list of the physical things you loved in that space. For me it was water. There's always been something about the sound of water that soothes me. I couldn't move to the beach but I could purchase a fountain for my porch. Maybe you loved being outside. How can you incorporate more time in nature? Can you schedule walks or visit a local garden or park? Think about what makes you come alive or feel settled and try to replicate that in your everyday space and life.

Who was with you?
My circle of friends got smaller during that season and it taught me to decide who I really wanted to do life with. Perhaps the slower pace of summer gave you more time with the people you love. How can you prioritize them now that you're headed into the busy Fall season? If we aren't intentional about spending time with people, it won't happen. Maybe you need to make a list of the top 3 relationships you want to invest in and focus on them. This may mean saying "no" to some people.

How did you feel?
Rested, at peace, excited?
I learned to love adventure. Hiking, paddle boarding, trying something new with a bit of a challenge. The Summer often brings those opportunities. I learned that I needed to hike different trails and open myself up to new things. Maybe you miss the way you felt rested and at peace on vacation. What can you do to create some of that in your everyday life?

I've found that I am the healthiest when I create an everyday life that includes all the things I love about Summer.

What about you?
I'd love to hear what you are going to do to take Summer into Fall.
